TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the woman killed in the motorcycle accident Sunday that left one person dead and another in handcuffs.
According to a post on the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, the identity of the woman who was found dead at the scene was 36-year-old Heather Lund of Terre Haute.
Vigo County Sheriff’s Department found Lund on Sunday, September 28, after responding to a call made just after 1 a.m. about a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Frye Street and Crossland Road. Lund was found dead near the motorcycle.
Officials said 43-year-old Robert Sekerak fled the scene of the accident and was taken to the ER by a passerby who authorities say was unaware anyone else was involved in the incident. Police say Sekerak was walking down the road when he was picked up.
The Sheriff’s Department said Sekerak is facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatality crash and possession of a controlled substance.
