TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — UPDATE: More information has been released by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department regarding the wreck Monday morning. According to Chief Deputy Steve Meng, deputies responded to the wreck around 10 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Gilchrist Street.
Meng stated that the preliminary investigation shows that an SUV was traveling south down U.S. 41 before attempting to turn east onto Gilchrist Street. Meng stated that the driver of the SUV claimed his foot slipped from the brake pedal, causing him to collide with the pickup truck. This collision caused the truck to flip onto its roof.
Meng stated that the truck’s passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Meng also added that the SUV’s driver was cited for driving while their license was suspended.
Police are on the scene of a crash in Vigo County, involving a vehicle that was turned upside down.
Chief Deputy Stephen Meng confirmed to WTWO/WAWV that the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is responding to the crash, near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Gilchrist Street.



A WTWO/WAWV reporter on the scene said a truck is upside down at the intersection and the northbound lane of U.S. 41 is down to one lane. Both southbound lanes have remained open.
