VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Over seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, according to the Alzheimer’s Association and though new treatments are available, there is yet to be a cure.
To help raise funds for those struggling, many Vigo County residents joined each other for a walk, to help end this devastating disease. Participates could make a donation or support the cause by spreading awareness.
To represent how this disease touches so many lives, participants could choose different colored flowers, each representing a different situation. For example, purple is if you lost someone to Alzheimer’s.
Devon Pulliam, manager for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Terre Haute said the walk continues to grow each year.
“It’s phenomenal. It was a great turnout last year, but it’s an even bigger turnout this year. We have great volunteers that work with us here in this area. I would be remised if I didn’t talk about the great folks that serve on the committees, all the great folks out here today,” said Pulliam.
Indiana currently has 18 different research projects going on at 6.7 million dollars. To learn more or donate visit Help fight Alzheimer’s.
