VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — To get some last bit of flying before the season is over, the AMA and Terre Haute RC Club hosted a Fun Fly, where any member of the community could come out and fly.
AMA is an organization that all kinds of enthusiast’s love. In the past, this event was only for the group, but this year, they opened it up for the public. For this event, people could bring their own plane or helicopter, or just enjoy the company.
Children participated in fun competitions where they could decorate model airplanes. The event also had a rocket show.
The goal, Jim Wyeth, President of the Terre Haute AMA chapter said, is to bring the community together and introduce children to the hobby.
With airplanes, helicopters, drones and more, there was a little something for everyone.
“We’ve got a great field that the county has let us use for 40 years and we really want to grow this local club,” said Jim Wyeth, President of AMA Terre Haute Chapter.
“Try it out because it’s a great place to come and fly your airplanes,’ said Bella Wyeth, the daughter of Jim Wyeth.
