TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man already on federal probation for child exploitation has been arrested for allegedly downloading and sharing child pornography.
According to court documents, Emery Norton Jr. was arrested on September 22, after an online investigation by police on the BitTorrent network that was looking to identify offenders sharing child pornography.
BitTorrent is a publicly available file-sharing network, said officials.
At the time of his arrest, Norton was on federal probation for a previous conviction of child exploitation. According to court documents, Norton was also in violation of multiple portions of his status as a registered sex offender, due to him living at a location not registered.
Norton has been charged with child exploitation; dissemination of child sexual abuse material, a level 4 felony, and repeat sexual offender.
