ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Parke County Sheriff’s Office released a public service announcement about trespassing on the Indiana State Sanatorium.
The announcement was made after a mass number of trespassing arrests had been made over the last few years. According to the PSA, 37 individuals have been arrested since 2022 for trespassing at the Sanatorium. The property is privately owned and is marked to notify trespassers. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that the authorities will be called as marked on the signs, no matter what you see on social media to the contrary.
Indiana State Sanatorium is located east of Rockville on U.S. 36. It originally functioned as a State of Indiana Tuberculosis Hospital before transitioning into a nursing home as well as a private mental hospital, known as Lee Alan Bryant. Due to its widely known and promoted history, primarily as a haunted location, it is highly sought after to be explored by fans of the supernatural.
Due to this high demand to explore the sanatorium, the owners have provided opportunities to do so both during the day and overnight. Find out how at this link.
