INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana Governor Mike Braun has ordered that flags at all state facilities be flown at half-staff in remembrance of Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Kirk, a longtime ally of President Donald Trump and the co-founder of conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot Wednesday during a college event in Orem, Utah.
Governor Braun’s order to fly flags at half-staff is in accordance with President Donald Trump’s direction that all flags at government buildings and military stations be lowered to half-staff to honor the conservative activist.
“Governor Braun encourages Hoosier residents and businesses to join state facilities in lowering their flags during this period of time,” wrote the Office of Governor Mike Braun in a press release.
The order to fly flags at half-staff in Indiana is effective immediately and will continue through sunset on Sunday, September 14.
Flags in Indiana have also been lowered to half staff on Thursday, September 11, in remembrance of the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.
