TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A railroad company could stimulate economic growth in the area.
Terre Haute city officials wanted to attract a company that would have an idea built within two years, have multiphase development and bring jobs and economic growth.
The Indiana Railroad submitted a bid to begin their first phase, a 2-million-dollar project. The project will be a logistics hub for their current trains on that use that line.
“We’re hoping to do a three-phase project over the next five to ten years and continue to create an economic corridor along 13th and Hulman, starting with the property that we have,” said Sakbun.
Sakbun also said this is a great way to pave the way for future opportunities.
