VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Community members gathered tonight at the St. Bernice Fire House to learn more about the Brouilletts Creek Solar Project in Vermillion County.
Representatives from Apex Clean Energy shared details about the solar farm, which will generate 200 megawatts of clean energy. It will also bring more than $175 million in private investments. The project is expected to create up to 400 construction jobs and provide long-term tax revenue.
The farm is located northeast of St. Bernice in southern Vermillion County.
“That’s money they can use to help fund emergency responders, pave roads, you know support schools, and things like that. So, it’s going to inject a lot of funding into the community, not just from a tax stand point or from a job stand point. Put real money into the pockets of farmers and people who live near the project,” Director of Public Engagement Brian O’ Shea said.
