TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Will Center will be hosting a ribeye sandwich cookout at Beasler’s Market to help raise money for their programs.
For just $12, people will be able to get a ribeye sandwich cooked fresh on the grill, chips, and a drink, and the cookout will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22nd.
Eve Fears is the Low Vision Coordinator at the Will Center, and she said an event like this can help out many of their programs and services they provide at the center.
“We have a craft group, we do,” Fears said. “We have five sight loss groups that we do monthly. We have peer support, where we have different guest speakers come in and talk to people and tell them things that are going on in the community. Something as simple as having the Terre Haute police department come in and explain safety for the elderly.”
Fears also mentioned how an event like this can help show and inform others that even if someone has a disability, there is nothing they can’t do.
“Everyone who works in our office has some form of disability, yet they all work full-time jobs, and they also volunteer full-time,” Fears said. “So, although you may have a disability or something going on in your life, there’s always a time to give back and a time to share information.”
There will also be a table at the cookout that people can go to in order to learn more about what the Will Center has to offer, or someone can sign up for their services at the table that day as well. To learn more about the Will Center or offer the Will Center support, just visit their website.
