INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A nice cold glass of milk is now the official drink of high school athletics in Indiana.
The American Dairy Association Indiana (ADAI) and the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) made the announcement in a press release.

The “Winners Drink Milk” partnership will now present the winners of all Indiana State Championships with celebratory milk after their hard-fought victory, mirroring a nearly 100-year-old Indianapolis 500 tradition of winners being presented a glass of milk in victory lane after the race.
The ADAI and IHSAA said milk won’t only be a celebratory drink for athletes to top off their long season, but it is also a way to provide athletes with essential nutrients
“Milk is a science-backed way to refuel, build muscle, hydrate and strengthen bones, making it the perfect choice for athletes to use to recover and gain a competitive edge in their sport,” said Jenni Browning, CEO at American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. “We are proud to partner with IHSAA to bring education and nutrition to students across Indiana, while also supporting our state’s dairy farmers.”
“Our goal at IHSAA is to ensure Indiana’s student athletes stay at the top of their game, both physically and mentally, and we are confident milk will give them the boost they need on the court and in the classroom,” said Paul Neidig, IHSAA Commissioner. “We look forward to partnering with the American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. to fuel our students and strengthen Indiana’s legacy of high school athletics.”
The partnership will last three years and will also include perks like exclusive “Winners Drink Milk” posters in all IHSAA high schools.
