TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Spearhead Construction has broken ground on a new 96-room extended-stay hotel in Terre Haute.
According to a press release, the new TownePlace Suites by Marriott began construction last week. The new hotel will be located near the intersection of I-70 and U.S. 41. The hotel will be a four-story, 59,000-square-foot project that is expected to take 14 months to complete.

The City of Terre Haute said this hotel will not only expand Terre Haute’s hotel room capacity, but will also help the city host large-scale events.
“The City of Terre Haute and Vigo County have seen an increase in tourism spending driven by the sports industry, workforce temporary housing, and the convention center. With our limited supply of hotel rooms, the community has had to turn away several large-scale events and opportunities,” said Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun in a social media post. “Thankfully, improvements are coming soon to our overall hotel room capacity.”
Spearhead Construction said this project is also expected to employ over 100 local construction workers during the building process, which will provide “a major boost to the Wabash Valley workforce.”
“I chose to build in Terre Haute because I believe in this community and its potential,” said Nick Patel, Partner at Transcend Group, LLC and Developer of the TownePlace Suites. “This hotel brings more than rooms; it brings opportunity. It supports local trades, generates long-term jobs, and provides visitors with a welcoming place to stay as they experience everything this city has to offer.”
“This project represents real momentum for our local economy and a long-term investment in Terre Haute’s future,” said Bill Hann, President of Spearhead Construction. “But for us, it’s also about delivering the highest quality product for a valued partner. As a local company, we take pride in building with our community in mind — using local talent, local trades, and a commitment to craftsmanship that reflects who we are.”
