FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)—The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert.
The product being recalled was the 16-oz. bag of Schnucks Tortellini PORK & BEEF with the best by date of May 27, 2026. This warning was due to the product possibly containing toasted ravioli, which contains soy and sesame. These two ingredients are known allergens that are not on the product’s label.
A recall could not be put out on the product due to it no longer being available for purchase. The alert is an effort to inform the public that if they have an allergy to sesame or soy, they should not consume it. The product was shipped to a Schnucks distribution center in Missouri before being further distributed to stores in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
There have been no confirmed reports yet of adverse effects. The problem was discovered when an establishment notified the FSIS of a complaint after receiving ravioli in a bag marked tortellini.
The FSIS urges consumers who have purchased the product to throw it out or return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions regarding the alert can contact Jessica Fazio at 314-645-6239 ext. 230 or by email at jessica@faziosbakery.com.
