VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Registration for the Salvation Army’s Back to School Program is open.
This program provides free school supplies to Vigo County students K-12. To ensure supply demands are met, you must be pre-registered.
Adults must bring a valid ID, social security card, proof of address and income. Adults must also provide their child’s last four digits of social security card, and their birth certificate.
Rhonda Harden is the Salvation Army POH Case Manager. POH stands for pathway of hope.
She said they are aiming to reduce the financial burden of school supplies by providing a free and convenient solution for families.
“It is hard to accept help from other people, but there’s time when we really need it, so if you need the help, come and get it. because that’s what we’re here for,” said Harden.
Sign-ups are July 22nd through august 1st 9am to 3:30pm. Distribution of supplies is august 4th from 9am to 3:30pm.
Salvation Army notes that they strive to offer as much supplies as they can but cannot guarantee all of the items on the list your child’s teacher requests.
Among those supplies are:
- 1” Poly Binders
- 3 ring notebooks (1 1/2”)
- Backpacks
- Calculators
- Colored pencils
- Crayons (Box of 24)
- Crayons (Box of 48)
- Crayons (Box of 64)
- Etc.
