TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The United Way of the Wabash Valley proudly celebrated a major milestone on Thursday with the graduation of the third cohort of the African American Board Leadership Institute.
This initiative is aimed at increasing African American representation in leadership roles across the region. It is made up of 19 dynamic leaders from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. Participants engaged in hands-on training, expert-led discussions, and guided mentorship to develop the tools and confidence needed for effective nonprofit board governance.
Graduates are now being paired with local nonprofits that align with their values and passions.
“As these graduates look ahead to different opportunities they remember that they are among people who support them and are welcoming their ideas and their participation,” Executive Director Dorothy Chambers said.
