SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— 18-year-old Samuel Fathauer has organized the first Sullivan Fun Run for a Cause to help raise money for the Brown Baggers of Sullivan County.
It costs just $10 to register for anyone age five and up to participate in the mile run. People can register up until the race starts on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., but to get a free t-shirt, people must sign up by the end of the night on Tuesday.
There will be different stations people can stop at during the run, and it will conclude with a dunk tank that Sullivan Mayor JD Wilson will be in. The race will begin at the Sullivan Civic Center located at 344 N. Main St.
The Brown Baggers is a local organization that helps provide food for children in Sullivan County when school is not in session. All the proceeds from this fun run will go directly towards the Brown Baggers.
Fathauer said he wanted to organize this run to help support a great cause in the local community.
“We’re raising money for the brown baggers who provide food for kids at school, who are not sure where the next meal is going to come from,” Fathauer said. “Everybody in Sullivan County knows how great it is. I mean, you go to the school, and you see all the happy kids walking away with their brown bags. It’s a great cause.”
