TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank is taking part in #ChipInChipAway on July 10.
#ChipInChipAway is a national day of giving focusing on the community and asking donors to give any amount they can to fight hunger locally. According to the news release, food assistance is at its highest need in the last decade. It also states that nonprofits like the food bank have experienced a sudden drop in funding that they attribute to donors facing financial challenges.
The post states, “Policy changes are creating hardships for many people, and cuts to government funding leave fewer resources to support everyone who needs food assistance.”
Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank feeds food-insecure residents of Clay, Greene, Knox, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo counties through a network of emergency food distribution member agencies. Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank works with more than 90 food pantries and soup kitchens and provides 3.75 million meals a year.
