TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Matriarch of St. George Orthodox Church in Terre Haute, Betty Tanoos Azar, celebrated her 100th birthday.
Hundreds of people were at Azar’s birthday party and azar said she loves them all. Azar also said she was blessed with four wonderful children, two boys and two girls.
When asked what her favorite memory was, Azar said the time she met President Roosvelt when she was five or six years old. According to Azar, he waved at her.
“Pop says look, the president’s waving, so I waved at him, and he waved back and I remember that,” said Azar.
According to Azar’s family, her mind is still sharp and inspirational.
