TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Indiana State University Board of Trustees has voted to maintain current in-state tuition and mandatory fees for the 2025-2025 and 2026-2027 school years.
The decision was announced days after Indiana Governor Mike Braun said all of Indiana’s 15 public higher education institutions have committed to tuition freezes for in-state undergraduate students for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years. Braun had requested a 0% increase last month and challenged the schools to “eliminate redundancies and identify ways to streamline services without compromising quality.”
“Today’s actions reflect our unwavering commitment to student affordability, operational excellence, and a campus culture rooted in fairness and mutual respect,” said Indiana State University President Mike Godard. “By freezing in-state tuition, approving a responsible and forward-looking budget, and updating key policies to reinforce safety and accountability, we are positioning Indiana State University to thrive in an increasingly complex higher education landscape.”
The board also approved the Fiscal Year 2026 operating budget and approved revisions to several key university policies.
Indiana State University said those revisions “ensure continued compliance with evolving legal standards related to non-discrimination, hazing prevention, and institutional accountability.”
“This budget reflects the tremendous momentum at Indiana State University and our continued focus on student achievement,” said Bob Casey, Chairperson of the Indiana State University Board of Trustees. “By prioritizing affordability while investing in academic excellence and student support, we are reinforcing the strength of our institution and paving the way for even greater success in the years ahead.”
