VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vincennes Fourth of July committee is awarding the 2025 Spirit of ’76 honor to the Director of Veteran Affairs, Mr. Martin Qualkenbush.
Qualkenbush served 24 years with the United States Army and has demonstrated a strong commitment to veterans and their families in the community.
During 2023, the City of Vincennes said Qualkenbush assisted veterans in obtaining over $3,000,000 in benefits, processed 2,651 phone calls, 341 appointments, had 535 visitors, processed 3,198 actions and drove 7,498 miles taking veterans to medical appointments and various locations.
“Martin is a true professional and deserves this award for his unwavering dedication to our veterans and the community,” said Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum.
Qualkenbush will be presented the Spirit of ’76 Award after the July 4th Parade in the dining room of the Harmony Club, located at 111 N 2nd Street. Qualkenbush will also serve as the Grand Marshall during the parade. The public is invited to attend this event.
