TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Two semis collided on Interstate 70 Wednesday causing all lanes to close.
According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, troopers were in the area of Interstate 70 after a tree fell on the westbound lane near mile marker nine. While this occurred, traffic began to build from the tree removal. Ames said that a semi was stopped due to traffic, but another semi behind them didn’t notice the stop, leading to a collision.
The crash led to all lanes being closed down around 5:30 p.m. Ames stated that after 6 p.m., the driver had been extricated from his vehicle and an airlift had been called in.
