FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— UPDATE: Terre Haute Fire Department’s Public Information Officer Nick Arnold said that they responded to several calls related to Wednesday evening’s storms. He said that between 3:15 p.m. and 4:53 p.m., they received calls about:
- Power lines down: 11 calls for service
- -Transformer fires: 5 calls for service
- -Tree/Limb down: 2 calls for service
- -Rescue/Collapse: 2 calls for service
- 1900 block of Clay Avenue- Tree and power lines on top of house, no injuries, nobody home
- 3100 block of N 10th Street- Tree and power lines on top of house, no injuries, THFD assisted female homeowner out of the house and into the care of neighbors.
- -Vehicle accident with entrapment on Interstate 70. Pt status unknown at this time. Will update further as necessary.
Vigo County Commissioner Chris Switzer also sent along a list of roads closed down due to storm damage:
- -Fruitridge from Hall to Park – tree with lines
- -Mill Street from Oregon Church to Harlan – limb down and multiple power lines
- -Oregon Church from 159 to Daniel – multiple trees with lines
- – Daniel from Dallas to Harlan – multiple trees with lines
- -Singhurst from Oregon Church to Price – multiple trees down with lines
- -Trimmer from Cummingsville to All – multiple trees down with lines
- – Louisville from Dallas to Woodsmall – multiple trees down with lines
- – Rio Grande from Stevenson to Robertson – tree with lines
- -Markle from Smith to Fruitridge – large tree down
- – Stevenson from Trout to Rio Grande – power lines down
- – Mayhew from Vandalia to Goodson – tree with lines
- – Lafayette between Hollywood and Morris – Phone lines










The Wabash Valley is currently dealing with several instances of fallen trees and power outages due to severe weather.
As of 4:00 p.m., the Finance Committee Meeting for the Vigo County School Corporation has been cancelled due to the building not having power or working phone lines.
The Duke Energy outage map is also listing over 15,000 residents in the Wabash Valley without power.
WTWO reached out to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Chief Steve Meng stated that the department has received a few calls about fallen trees and power lines, but nothing major to report. We also reached out to the Terre Haute Fire Department, which said they would update us when things had calmed down.
