TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The City of Terre Haute will begin its city-wide leaf pickup on November 12.
The Terre Haute Sanitation Department said this year’s leaf collection will begin in the southern part of the city and will then move north.
The first zone the sanitation department will begin collecting leaves in will be everyone south of Margaret Ave, and then everyone from Margaret Ave to College Ave, and then from 1st Street to U.S. 41.
The sanitation department said an updated pickup schedule will be announced each week on their website.
Leaf pickup instructions for Terre Haute:
The Terre Haute Sanitation Department asks all residents to have their leaves raked into a pile before the scheduled pick up for your area.
It’s also important that the pile of leaves is not piled into the street.
Once crews arrive to pick up your leaves, they will blow the piles into the road before picking them up. The city said crews do this to prevent “storm sewers from becoming plugged, which causes streets to flood.”
Republic’s will also pick up any bagged leaves left by your trash can on your normal trash pickup day. Republic’s will pick up to 10 bags of leaves each week.
