SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s all things Halloween across the valley, and here’s how one local school provided a safe environment for their students.
Sullivan Elementary School celebrates Halloween with a Trunk-or-Treat and there were many creative costumes and trunks out there. Dozens of community members, older students and local organizations came out to the event.
Amy Huff said she has participated in the event for over 4 years and has grandchildren in the elementary school.
“It’s just a fun safe thing for the kids and we just really enjoy you know, figuring out what we’re going to be eat year and showing up for the kids,” said Huff.
These students were representatives for their principal and picked as a group. They say it was fun to interact with all of the elementary students and to give them joy.
“We handed them candy, and we asked them about their outfits,” said a representative.
This group is from Sullivan Middle School Student Council. They dressed as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and said they would like to participate again next year.
“Being able to do this with the younger kids and we just really thought the kids would know what it was, so we just thought it would be a really cool thing to do,” said a member.
Even though the air was chilly, the Trunk-or-Treat ended with a special sweet treat, ice cream from a cart.
A reminder for drivers to watch out for all of the trick or treaters out this Halloween.
