TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you are looking for a way to stay active as the weather gets colder, the Wabash Valley Road Runners has a new challenge for you.
The challenge is to run or walk six routes in eight Vigo County parks over the next eight weeks. It’s put on by the Wabash Valley Road Runners, in cooperation with the Vigo County and City of Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Departments.
Starting on October 18, the challenge will begin. Participants can pick between two options, depending on how far they want to walk or run.
The “Lite Challenge” will only have distances ranging from 1.4 to 2.25 miles, while the “Long Challenge” will have a distance ranging from 4.6 to 6 miles.
Examples of routes from last year’s event are provided below.

“The ‘Do the Parks Challenge’ has been one of WVRR’s most appreciated events. It gives participants an opportunity to appreciate the extensive parks system our community has to offer,” said the Wabash Valley Road Runners. “From a gentle stroll around Collett Park & Maple Lake Park to the rugged trails of Elliot Woods & Griffin Bike Park, there is a challenge for everyone at all levels and ages.”
Once you sign up for the challenge, an event packet with all the routes will be available to you. That packet will not be available until October 17.
