BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Bridgeton Covered Bridge Festival started this weekend, and locals are taking advantage of the influx of traffic through yard sales.
Located just outside of Brazil, on State Road 59, many people are hosting yard sales where you find just about anything.
Two girls were on their way to the Covered Bridge Festival, when this sale caught their eye.
“I got a fish tank for five dollars. We’re gonna go get fish,” said covered bridge travelers, Kali McKee and Taylor Christian.
During this time of year, people come from all over to enjoy the local festival, and many people just like these two stop at many yard sales on their journey.
“Yard sales and just the covered bridge all day,” said McKee.
“Good deals,” said Christian.
“I’m excited,” said McKee.
Jackie Tyler and James Sauge have been hosting their yard sale along SR 59 for over 20 years during the month of October. With the uptick in people traveling this area, people stop at their yard sale from just about everywhere.
“Main thing in a way is because it is during the festival days and we know that there are lots of people from all different kind of states,” said Tyler.
“So yeah, we’ve had them from Pennsylvania, Ohio, California,” said Sauge.
Although Sauge and Tyler enjoy making sales, their favorite part is meeting, and connecting with all the people who visit, like McKee and Christian.
This sale continues through all 10 days of the Covered Bridge Festival. The sale is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily and located on State Road 59 into Brazil.
