GREENE CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— With the holiday shopping season beginning to heat up, the Linton Civitan Club wants to provide some assistance to those in need this holiday season with their annual Clothe-A-Child and Toys for Tots programs.
Applications for these programs are open to residents of Greene County for anyone with a child twelve years old or younger. Families can get either clothes, toys, or both for their children. All they have to do is fill out an application form and return it or postmark it by October 31st to be eligible for either program.
Bette Meng is the secretary of the Linton Civitan Club, and she mentioned that they do this so that everyone is able to have a wonderful Christmas.
“It is a great feeling,” Meng said. “I think that’s why I do it, if people say ‘I don’t know how you’ve time. It’s so much work,’ but just to see the smile on a child’s face and we have parents that will say, ‘if it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have Christmas’, and that makes me sad, I almost cry. It is a really great feeling to know that you’re helping people.”
The Linton Civitan Club will ring the bell on weekends to help raise money for the programs and is always asking for volunteers to help out with ringing the bells. If you or someone you know is interested in signing up for that or wants to donate, you can reach out to Meng or the Civitan Club by email at bettemeng@comcast.net or linton-civitan.club@gmail.com
