TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The summer heat looks to be almost over, which means you will be turning on your furnace soon.
Do you know the proper steps after it has been sitting all winter?
Doug Andrews is the President and CEO of Andrews Heating & Air Conditioning. He said the first step is to check your filter and change it when needed, but the biggest thing to watch for is carbon monoxide.
“If you have a gas furnace, the most important thing is carbon monoxide”, Andrews said. “You want to have a furnace checked annually for that, have a trained professional check all the components to make sure everything is safe and ready to go for the wintertime. If you experience any headaches, nausea, fatigue throughout the winter, make sure you have it checked out.”
When changing your filter, Christine Andrews, CFO of Andrews Heating & Air Conditioning, noted that a stronger filter can make a significant difference.
