BAINBRIDGE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— New details have been released on the investigation of the missing Putnam County woman, Britney Gard.
According to a news release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the department is continuing to investigate the missing person case as well as the fire at the woman’s home.
Authorities said that three fire investigators were called in to the scene and are actively compiling evidence from the home on County Road 600 North, near Bainbridge. Deputies stated that the fire investigators believe that the fire in the home was “suspicious in nature” and that full findings would be turned over to investigators as their investigation continues.
The release continues stating that a drone was used the night of the fire to assist in efforts to search the area. After the Putnam County Community Emergency Response Team continued search efforts in the area the following day, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources was contacted regarding searches of the pond on the property and Britney Gard could not be located.
Gard was last seen on September 30 and no family or friends have had contact with Gard since the fire. The house was reported as showing smoke on October 1 at 7:39 p.m. and the fire was extinguished by local fire departments. No individuals were found in the fire-damaged home.
Authorities said they are currently working with detectives from other agencies to locate Gard. The Clark County, Illinois Sheriff has also shared that if you have any information on the whereabouts of Gard to contact your local law enforcement agency.
The release concludes by stating that no more information on specific evidence will be released while they work around the clock to locate Gard.
