BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/ WAWV)— A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held later this month for the completion of a new bridge in Clay County.
The Clay County Parks Association (CCPA) announced that the official opening of the Craig Park Bridge will occur on October 25 at noon. The bridge will fully complete the Wilmadean walking trail and allow users to navigate the entire lake.
“Wilmadean had a vision for a walking recreational trail around Craig Park, and this has been in the making for over 25 years,” said Craig Johnson, President of the Clay Community Parks Association. “The bridge finally connects two parts of the trail, increasing access to exercise and helping with community health.”
Craig Park is located on the west side of Brazil and provides 70 acres of land that includes three miles of walking trails. Last year, the CCPA completed construction of the bridge itself that connects the north and south walking trails, and now landscaping has been completed around the bridge. The bridge was made possible by a $250,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and landscaping with support from a Wabash Valley Community Foundation grant and generous donations from individuals, businesses, and local organizations.
