VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local student helped transform part of her former elementary school into a board game.
Charlee Steiner is a sixth grader at Honey Creek Middle School in Terre Haute. Last year, while a fifth grader at Honey Creek Middle School, she had the idea to paint a sidewalk at the school like a board game,
She wrote and submitted a grant to the school PTO, which then paid for the project. Many students were also involved in painting the sidewalk.
Charlee explains her inspiration behind the project.
“I came up with this idea because I like the game Candyland, and I play it with my grandma a lot, and so I just wanted it to be at the school because everybody walks on the sidewalk, but you can walk on rainbows.”
Charlee also made cards corresponding to the colors on the sidewalk. She’ll show the school how to play in a video next week.
