TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The second annual Battle of the Badges is underway at Terre Haute Casino Resort.
The two-day event is a friendly competition between the Terre Haute Police and Fire Departments. Each agency is on a mission to save lives with the Red Cross through blood donation.
To participate, you can make an appointment here or walk into the Sycamore Event Center at Terre Haute Casino Resort between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Once you’ve given blood, you can choose either the Terre Haute Police Department or the Fire Department and take home some free merchandise.
At the end, the winning agency will receive a gold plaque to hold on to for the year.
Public Information Officer for the Terre Haute Fire Department, Captain Nick Arnold, said this drive is a great way to help your community in the case of an emergency.
“We respond to emergencies every day, both the police department and the fire department”, Arnold said. “When it comes to the shortage of blood, we want to make sure that nobody ever has to wait in the event that they need blood.”
If you haven’t donated yet, you still have an opportunity. Just visit the Sycamore Event Center inside Terre Haute Casino Resort between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
