TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A local hair salon teamed with other small businesses recently for a good cause, helping animals in need of a home.
Hair on Hulman salon held a vendor fair last weekend. The event raised $600 for the Terre Haute Humane Society. Salon owner Crissy Renfro presented the check to the shelter today. The shelter’s Executive Director, Heidi Mitchell, said the donation will help them continue their work of helping animals in need.
“It’s exciting when other community organizations and community businesses get together to support us because it does take a village and we are completely overwhelmed and honored to have Hair on Hulman in our village,” said Mitchell
Renfro said she loves animals and used to volunteer at the Terre Haute Humane Society.
So she wanted to do an event that would benefit the shelter and help the animals find their forever homes.
“It was such a wonderful turnout. Our community really came and helped, and I just couldn’t imagine,” said Renfro. “I was thinking it would be much less and when I counted the money and saw what we had, I was like, yes, we got $600!”
Mitchell said the shelter is at max capacity, so she encourages people to adopt.
She also said their spay and neuter clinic is open on Thursdays.
