INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local state legislators are looking for individuals who are interested in interning for the Indiana House Republicans during the 2026 legislative session.
The opportunity is a paid, full-time internship. The opportunity is available for college students, recent graduates, and students in graduate programs or law school.
State Representative Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) said the internship with the Indiana House Republicans is more than an educational experience.
“This isn’t just an internship, it’s an opportunity to grow professionally and personally,” Heaton said. “Students will leave with skills and experiences that can benefit them for years to come.”
State Representative Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) added that this opportunity gives interns a better understanding of state government and the legislative process.
“Our internship program provides students with hands-on experience at the Statehouse,” Borders said. “Interns play an important role in serving Hoosiers while building skills for their future careers.”
During the internship, interns will work at the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. They will work full-time during the 2026 legislative session, which begins in January and concludes in March.
Interns will also be paired with a staff member and work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. This will give them the opportunity to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders, according to State Representative Tim Yocum (R-Clinton).
“Our interns contribute daily to the work we do for Hoosiers at the Statehouse,” Yocum said. “From assisting constituents and attending committee meetings, to crafting press releases and working directly with representatives, House internships have much to offer students.”
Applications for the internship are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31. Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
