WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Hundreds of local students explored their futures during the Wabash Valley College and Career Fair, held on Tuesday.
This year’s event took place at West Vigo High School. However, it was open to students from all Vigo County High Schools.
The event featured over 60 booths representing colleges, trade unions, law enforcement agencies and more.
Two high school seniors who helped with the event discussed why it’s important, and shared advice for students visiting fairs like this in the future.
“It gives them kind of an idea they can be able to talk to those people kind of one-on-one here at their school and get more information and kind of help them decide what they want to do,” said Emily McKinney.
“Be open-minded, definitely, because there’s a lot of career options like the laborers, the unions, the nursing, IT, like anything,” said Somer Ockerman. “Just be open-minded, cause anything could change while you’re a sophomore or senior, just let life take you, and ask questions to everyone, cause there’s a lot of different options here.”
Officials estimate about 500 students attended the event on Tuesday.
