WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Saturday was a special night here at WTWO, as we celebrated 60 years of being on the air.
We are more than just a station, WTWO is a family. Hundreds of previous and current employees, along with friends and family, gathered at the station Saturday. A celebration of not only what has been accomplished over the years, but what is also yet to come.
Those who have left an everlasting impact on the station were recognized tonight.
One being WTWO legend, Tom McClanahan and anchor Dana Winklepleck.
Though, Tim Sanders, our general manager, said the station couldn’t run with the help of each and every single employee. Lots has changed over these 60 years, but one thing has remained the same, our dedication to providing the Wabash Valley with local news.
“Just a way to honor our employees, whether they’re ones that were here 60 years ago or the ones that are here today. It’s not just the on-air talent, it’s everybody from behind the scenes. They all are the ones that make the station move and they talk a lot about me, but it’s not about me. It’s about the people and all of them. It takes a lot of people to put on a program like we do every night,” said Sanders.
Sanders said the station will continue to adapt and grow. The next step, launching WTWO streaming, anytime, anywhere, with our new app coming in October.
