CLAY CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— United Way of the Wabash Valley is holding their Power of the Community event next week to help the children in Clay County.
There will be a dinner, auctions and raffles for everyone that attends to enjoy during the event. All the money raised during this event will go towards the United Way’s Success by Six program, something that co-chair of the Power of the Community program Kathy Deal says is very important.
“It will go completely a 100% to clay community when students in kindergarten for the real men read program, Deal said. “It’ll support the book nooks at the local laundromats and other literacy efforts that we’re doing in clay county.”
This program will help provide books and other literacy items for kids between the ages of zero to five. Anyone who comes to this event will have the chance to win some great prizes that the community has helped get for people to enjoy.
“There’ll be everything from fall décor to carnival games, there’s going to be wreaths, beautiful wreaths,” Deal said. “There’s going to be many, many gift cards auctioned off. Our community has been extremely generous. We have picked up so many extra donors this year that everybody wants to get involved to help the children.”
Power of the Community will open their doors at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and the auctions beginning at 6:00 p.m. and it will take place at North Clay Middle School in Brazil, Ind. To learn more about this event and how to get tickets for it visit the United Way of the Wabash Valley’s website.
