TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The American Red Cross has partnered with PEANUTS for their 75th anniversary to give Terre Haute residents a limited edition hoodie for donating blood platelets.
September is National Preparedness Month, and in honor of that, the American Red Cross is once again asking for donations. Any donors are welcome, but those with O positive and B negative are specifically requested.
Blood is an essential part of preparedness for every type of disaster, from home fires to natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. Severe weather can also disrupt blood collections by causing cancellations and impacting donors’ ability to give. The release also notes that many trauma patients need blood product transfusions within minutes of entering the emergency rooms. All of these are reasons why those who give could help someone in a dire moment.
The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Terre Haute Resort Casino on September 30. Those who give platelets will receive a classic Red Cross x PEANUTS sweatshirt featuring Snoopy as the coolest beagle in town, Joe Cool, while supplies last. You can also receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email if you visit this link.
To schedule a time to give, you can visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or use the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
