TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — David C. Ewing has announced his candidacy for Vigo County Sheriff.
WTWO/WAWV is Your Local Election Headquarters.
Ewing, who is running as a democrat, has been a Deputy for the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years, and if he is elected, he said he wants to focus on providing mental health resources for veterans, increasing visibility and community involvement, along with addressing jail overcrowding.
Ewing said he also wants to address addiction issues in the community and rebalance resources within the sheriff’s office to increase the patrol division, as he has been a patrol officer for his entire career.
Ewing said his whole goal is to give back to the community.
“I’ve said it time and time again during my campaign that it’s not about me, the campaign is about our community, and it’s about our citizens coming together, making Terre Haute and Vigo County a better community than when we found it, to leave for our children and generations to come,” said Ewing.
The election for Vigo County Sheriff will be held in 2026.
