TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWP/WAWV) – A year ago, America fell in love with the “Singing Janitor” from Terre Haute. Richard Goodall won “America’s Got Talent.”
“This show changes people’s lives, and all you have to do is to just have guts to go up there and walk across the stage and trust me, I know, it’s a trip, ” said Richard Goodall.
After being named the winner in 2024, Goodall’s been busy.

“I’ve been all over America. I did get my passport, but I’ve not got to travel overseas yet. But AGT kinda hinted I may be at some point going over to Britain’s Got Talent,” added Goodall.
He’s performed in venues across the country and even opened for AGT Judge Howie Mandel’s show in Las Vegas. He also stays in touch with supermodel and former AGT Judge Heidi Klum, who picked him for a ‘Golden Buzzer.’
“I messaged Heidi and I said, man, we miss you, and she goes, I’ve been truly thinking about you guys. I mean it. I promise,” Goodall said.

While his professional life has him performing, his personal life has changed as well. With his AGT winnings, he and his wife Angie were able to pay cash for their house in Terre Haute.
“She had me planting tomato plants and cucumber plants,” said Goodall.
During the past year, Goodall, who was adopted, found his biological father. Goodall says his biological dad knew who Goodall was because of the talent show.

“He’s like, you’re that janitor guy, aren’t you? I said yes, sir, that was me. I was on the show. He was just like, I can’t believe, I can’t believe it.”
Goodall also said he found he has a brother and two sisters.
While a lot has changed over the past year, a lot has also stayed the same. He continues to work as a school janitor in Vigo County. And he still receives lots of support from the community.
“I stop and take every photo, and shake every hand and sign every autograph,” said Goodall.
Goodall recently released his own song ‘Long Time Coming.” It can be found on music streaming services. He said he’s ready for whatever life brings next.
“I have no complaints. It’s been amazing time and what happens, happens.”
