VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Vincennes will once again witness witches roaming the streets for the 5th annual Vincennes Witches on Bikes fundraiser.
The annual event will once again raise funds for Good Samaritan Breast Cancer Center and Vincennes Parks and Recreation. This fundraiser is done in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer and promote a healthy community.
Those who register will dress up as their favorite witch, warlock, or Wicked character and hop on their golf carts and bikes to ride through town. The route will run around 10 miles and will include passing out candy.
“We got the idea from a group in Colorado who does a ride every October,” said
Blinn. “When we started it, we just wanted to see who would show up. We had a
dozen or so riders that first year, but word got around! All the way to France,
even.”
City Councilwoman Regina Blinn organizes the event each year and has raised $21,510 since its inception. The fundraiser brings riders from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee. 2024’s event had over 150 registrants, including one from France.
The event will take place on October 25 at the Gregg Park Open Shelter House with check-in at 1 p.m. and the ride starting at 2 p.m.
The rider fee is $30 if registered before October 10. The fee then goes to $35, but early registration guarantees a t-shirt. Registration will be open through October 17 at midnight. To register or become a sponsor for the event, click here.
