TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — More information has been released regarding the man officers said was found Sunday, injured by “unknown means.”
According to the Terre Haute Police Department (THPD), on Sunday, the department responded to the 2400 block of S. 9th Street in response to reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Elijah B. Oglesby, 41, who was receiving treatment from TransCare personnel after being flagged down by a bystander.
According to THPD, Oglesby sustained an injury to his chest by “unknown means” and was transported to a local hospital before passing away from his injuries.
“THPD officers and detectives immediately initiated an investigation. An autopsy has since revealed that Oglesby’s injury was caused by a projectile, which was recovered during the procedure,” said THPD.
THPD said the case remains an active investigation and further details will be released as permitted.
