SPENCER, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a rubber chicken. If you see rubber chickens flying off the Owen County Courthouse next month, don’t worry, it’s all for a good cause.
On September 6, the Owen County Chamber of Commerce is holding the Chamber’s Chester Chicken Chuck. Organizers will be throwing rubber chickens off the courthouse roof, where teams below will try to catch them for a chance to win a year’s supply of friend chicken from Babbs Supermarket.
While the team slots have already been filled, anyone who shows up can be part of one of the chicken fly. If you catch the special chicken fly chicken, you’ll win a free 97-second shopping spree at Babbs Supermarket in honor of the grocery store’s 97th anniversary.
“Our local businesses around the square they still rely very heavily on foot traffic that’s part of what the chamber does is to support our local businesses this is a great way to collaborate with our local businesses as well as it’s just fun I mean I think sometimes you know life can be pretty challenging it can be pretty difficult and so every now and then you just need to do something fun,” said Marce Johnson, CEO of the Owen County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development.
The chicken chuck will take place Saturday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to noon on the south lawn of the courthouse.
