TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — As school gets going, there are exciting changes at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has almost completed a new residence hall for students. This is the first new freshman hall built on the campus since the 1960s. It’s part of an ongoing campaign by the college to upgrade their campus.
“This facility was the last kinda frontier in terms of upgrading our facilities for student housing are last residence hall that we’ve constructed was in 2012 that was an upper-class hall has really served us well, but this one is really dedicated to the freshman experience,” said President of Rode-Hulman Institute of Technolgy Rob Coons.
A blend of traditional housing and upgraded amenities. This new hall has 4 stories, 160 beds, and a common area on each floor.
“The mission for the student affairs experience is to make sure that students have just as amazing experience outside of the classroom as they do inside and these halls really help facilitate that,” said Coons.
This new hall was funded by Rose Hulman’s largest fundraiser in history, where they raised over 67 million dollars during their 150-anniversary fundraiser last year.
Freshman will be moving into this new residence hall next Friday and classes start on September 2nd.
