KANSAS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — An Edgar County Jury has found Michael Lowery, a former Martinsville, Illinois, teacher, accused of sexually assaulting one of his former students, not guilty on all counts, according to court documents.
Lowery, 53, was arrested in April of 2025 and charged with criminal sex assault on a victim between the ages of 13 and 17.
The alleged incident occurred in Kansas, Illinois, while Lowery was a teacher in that school district, according to Kansas Police. He had taught junior and senior high history at Martinsville High School and was in his third year at the district.
According to court documents, on August 20, an Edgar County Jury found Lowery not guilty on three counts of criminal sexual assault on a victim between the ages of 13 and 17, three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of grooming.
