TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County is ranked among the top 20 counties in Indiana for the highest unemployment rate in July, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
Out of the 92 counties in Indiana, Vigo County was ranked 19th with an unemployment rate of 4.5%. According to the Indiana DWD’s July 2025 Employment Report, the unemployment rate for the entire state was recorded at 3.6%.
Meaning, Vigo County has an unemployment rate that is 0.9% higher than the state average.
