KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday that ended in 3 felony arrests.
According to a post from the Knox County, IN Sheriff’s Office, a deputy made a stop on a vehicle speeding on State Road 67 and Church Road. While conducting the stop, the post states that K-9 Zeno was deployed and indicated the presence of illegal drugs.
After searching the truck, two large bags along with several smaller ones were found to contain 680 grams of marijuana. Scales, several small empty plastic bags, a pipe, $300 in cash, and a prescription bottle of medication not belonging to the driver were also found. The post also added that the pipe tested positive for methamphetamines.
The driver, 39-year-old Joshua Barmes, was taken into custody and taken to the Knox County Jail, where he remains. Barmes was charged with dealing in marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and legend drug deception. Barmes has a $10,000 bond.
The post continues, stating that information obtained during the arrest led deputies to get a search warrant for homes located at 702 and 705 Washington Street in Bicknell, Indiana. During the search of the homes, various items of paraphernalia were located. This included two large bags and several smaller bags, equaling 800 grams of marijuana, small clear plastic baggies, scales, several glass and plastic pipes, and several glass and plastic homemade smoking devices.
After the searches were completed, deputies arrested 39-year-old Nicole Sloan and 43-year-old Tonya Riker. Riker and Sloan were charged with dealing in marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance. Sloan was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a hypodermic needle. Riker and Sloan were released later the same day after posting their $5,000 bonds.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
