ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An individual with autism was found safe early Tuesday morning after police said they were unable to locate the individual after a fire in Rockville Monday night.
According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies along with multiple local fire departments, responded to a fire on Oakwood Drive in Rockville Monday night at 11:30 p.m.
Police said an initial report stated that an adult with autism may have been trapped in the structure.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire, but the individual was not located in the structure, leading deputies to begin a search of the area to locate the individual.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. the following morning, the sheriff’s department said, the individual was located unharmed near the residence.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the sheriff’s department said the “cause does not appear suspicious.”
