TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— On Wednesday, Evansville native Mary Allen visited Terre Haute to announce she’s running for Indiana’s 8th District Congressional Seat.
The democrat is currently an at-large city council member in Evansville. Allen said her goal for the rest of this year is to engage with residents throughout the district to hear what issues most concern them.
“I plan on traveling around to all 21 counties as often as I can, meeting in-person, knocking door to door, public forums, whatever it takes for people to get to know me, but ultimately for me to get to know them,” said Allen. “What’s working for them, what’s not working for them, and then what we can do to solve those problems that are impacting people’s everyday lives.”
U.S. Representative Mark Messmer, a republican, currently holds Indiana’s 8th District Congressional Seat and is seeking re-election. The midterm election is set for 2026.
