UPDATE (5:19 p.m.) — According to the Vincennes Police Department, officers responded to 2102 North 6th Street in Vincennes in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, police said they located a female with gunshot wounds. Police said the suspect, 32-year-old Dylan A. Smith, left the scene in a black Cadillac. More information led officers to a residence on Carbon Street, a block away from the incident.
Officers said they were able to contact the owner of the home, who advised police that Smith was inside armed with a knife. A several-hour standoff with police then occurred.
Police were then able to take Smith into custody on a charge of murder using “less lethal devices” said police.
UPDATE (4:44 p.m.) — The Knox County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that a death investigation is ongoing after a female was found dead in the parking lot of Cardinal’s Liquor Store in Vincennes.
According to the coroner’s office, the victim has been identified as 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of Hendershot’s death, and the investigation into her death remains ongoing.
VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Police are on the scene of a possible shooting at Cardinal’s Liquor Store in Vincennes, according to the Knox County Central Dispatch.
The liquor store is located on 6th Street in Vincennes. At this time, dispatch couldn’t confirm if anyone was injured or if there was any damage to the property.
